USC Students,
For the fifth installment of USC’s FinTech Guest Speaker Series, we have the pleasure of hosting Dan Leberman, VP & General Manager, SMB North America, PayPal
PayPal, was founded in 1998, and continues to be at the forefront of the digital payments revolution. In 2015, 28% of the 4.9 billion payments the company processed were made on a mobile device. PayPal gives people better ways to connect to their money and to each other, helping them safely access and move their money and offering a choice of how they would like to pay or be paid.
With a 179 million active customer accounts, they have created an open and secure payments ecosystem that people and businesses choose to securely transact with each other online, in stores and on mobile devices. PayPal is a truly global payments platform that is available to people in more than 200 markets, allowing customers to get paid in more than 100 currencies, withdraw funds to their bank accounts in 57 currencies and hold balances in their PayPal accounts in 26 currencies.
The FinTech Guest Speaker Series is part of Marshall’s new MBA level course FBE 599 – The Fintech Revolution: Disrupting Traditional Finance. The course will dive into selected emerging FinTech business models to understand how they are disputing traditional banking. As a part of the course, each lesson will have C-Level executives from various FinTech companies join as guest lecturers. These industry leaders will speak more deeply on the topics covered in class, the FinTech industry as a whole, and the disruption in their segment. In the spirit of being inclusive the speaker portion of the class will be open for all USC students. Guest speakers will present the second half of class from 800 - 930pm.
If you would like to attend, please RSVP through Eventbrite. If we need to limit attendance due to room capacity, priority will be given in the following order: students enrolled in the class (actually, you are required to attend), MBA students not enrolled in course, undergraduate Marshall students, then all other USC students. For students who decide to join the lectures, please find a seat (first come first served basis but please do not infringe on the seats of students enrolled in the course) during the class's break.
We’re excited to launch the USC FinTech Guest Speaker Series and hope you can make it!
Cheers,
Marc Hamud & James Healy
